Each course combines self-paced video content with scheduled live sessions. You will practise regularly with native signers, receive personalised feedback, and build skills progressively through structured exercises.
Begin your signing journey with essential vocabulary, fingerspelling, numbers, and basic conversational phrases. Ideal for complete beginners with no prior BSL experience.
Duration: 8 weeks (2 sessions per week)
Expand your vocabulary, improve fluency, and develop conversational confidence. Covers grammar structures, classifiers, and more complex expressions. Requires Foundation completion or equivalent.
Duration: 12 weeks (2 sessions per week)
Refine your expressive skills through intensive conversation practice. Focus on natural pacing, regional variations, and culturally appropriate communication. Requires Intermediate completion.
Duration: 10 weeks (3 sessions per week)
Comprehensive preparation for nationally recognised BSL qualifications. Includes examination preparation, assessment simulations, and detailed feedback. Suitable for career advancement.
Duration: 16 weeks (2 sessions per week + self-study)
Specialised vocabulary and scenarios for medical settings. Covers appointment communication, symptom descriptions, consent processes, and emergency situations. No prior BSL required.
Duration: 6 weeks (2 sessions per week)
Learn alongside family members with content suitable for all ages. Covers everyday household communication, stories, songs, and fun interactive activities. Perfect for families with Deaf members.

If you have never signed before, the Foundation Level provides the strongest starting point. Six to eight weeks of consistent practice typically builds enough vocabulary and confidence to handle everyday greetings, introductions, and simple exchanges.
Those with some prior exposure—perhaps from family members, previous courses, or self-study—might consider the Intermediate Course directly. Contact our admissions team if you are uncertain about placement; a brief video assessment can clarify your current level at no cost.
Healthcare workers often benefit most from our sector-specific course, which prioritises vocabulary and scenarios directly relevant to clinical settings. You do not need prior BSL knowledge, though those with Foundation experience will find the pace comfortable.
The Family Workshop suits households where multiple members want to learn together. Sessions accommodate different ages and abilities, making BSL a shared family project rather than an individual pursuit.
